Rollstone Bank & Trust has unveiled a new free service through its website designed to educate customers and the general public on the basics of financial literacy — from managing a checking or savings account to how to save for retirement — in an effort to contribute to the financial wellness of the greater Massachusetts community.
“A bi-annual study of high school financial literacy by Champlain College of Vermont has given the State of Massachusetts a grade of ‘F’ when it comes to educating its public high school students on money matters,” said Martin Connors Jr., president of Rollstone Bank & Trust. “In 2017, the latest year the study was conducted, our state was one of 11, nationwide, that was branded with that scarlet letter. We want to play a leading role in changing that.”
The website service, offered through online partner Banzai, provides free, online financial education to people of all ages. It includes calculators, games and activities to appeal to children, teens and adults at different stages of their lives and financial understanding.
“Rollstone Bank is a strong advocate for financial education. We believe that understanding your money — how to count it, save it, and even spend it wisely — is an essential skill for a productive and happy life,” Connors said.
Articles, calculators, and coaches are available in the Wellness Center and lifelike simulations are offered as part of the Banzai courses: Junior for ages 8-12, Teen for 13-18 year-olds, and Plus for adults.
The website courses are an extension of a long-term set of community offerings from Rollstone over the past year that have included youth-focused programs educating children on checkbooks, savings accounts and credit scores to help them build good money habits for later in life, as well as seminars by Rollstone’s Wealth Management division that offer training on basic investing, and social security and retirement planning.
Rollstone Bank & Trust delivers personalized service that goes above & beyond. They are dedicated to providing customers with superior bank and wealth management solutions, along with the support they need to prosper at work and at home. With branches located throughout central Massachusetts, customers have peace of mind knowing the bank is FDIC & DIF insured.
